For rugged natural splendour, the Australian outback is where it’s at. This journey into the remote regions of northern and central Australia brings you face-to-face with the land and the intriguing characters and wildlife that call it home. Majestic Uluru, sprawling Kings Canyon and the out-there landscapes of Kakadu National Park await your hiking boots, while the crocodiles and the mysteries of Indigenous Australian culture—as told by the locals themselves—are primed to fascinate. Adventure doesn’t get much more adventurous than this.

Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1 Alice Springs/Kings Canyon (1L,1D) - Depart Alice Springs early in the morning and travel to the Red Centre. Hike the awe-inspiring Kings Canyon and cool off with a swim in a waterhole. Camp under the stars of the night sky—the only way to really experience the outback.
  • Day 2 Kata Tjuta/Uluru (1B,1L,1D) - Enjoy a guided walk through the Valley of the Winds in Kata Tjuta in the morning, then visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Catch the sunset over Uluru before heading to your campground for the night.
  • Day 3 Uluru/Alice Springs (1B,1L,1D) - Watch the sunrise over Uluru, then enjoy a walk around its impressive base. Stop by a camel farm for an optional camel ride en route back to Alice Springs.
  • Day 4 The Ghan Train (1B) - Ride the rails on the famous Ghan Train—named for Afghan cameleers. Glide through the remote outback en route to the subtropical top end of Australia.
  • Day 5 Darwin (1B) - Stop at Katherine Gorge. Opt for a flat-bottomed boat trip or a walk before continuing onto Darwin.
  • Day 6 Darwin/Kakadu National Park (1B,1L,1D) - Spot crocs on a boat cruise. Visit an Aboriginal crafts centre before continuing onto Kakadu National Park.
  • Day 7 Kakadu National Park/Litchfield National Park (1B,1L,1D) - Explore the waterfalls, swimming holes and trails of Kakadu National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Day 8 Litchfield National Park/Darwin (1B,1L) - Guided excursion to Litchfield National Park to encounter streams, rock formations and the impressive magnetic termite mounds. Tour ends in Darwin upon arrival in the evening.
