Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town

We begin in Cape Town before travelling to one of the first black townships created in the region - Langa. We visit several inspiring projects there before travelling to the Cederberg region.

Day 2-3: Western Cape/Orange River

We travel north through Namaqualand to Orange (Gariep) River. This waterway cuts a green swathe between Namibia and South Africa. Crossing the river we enter Namibia and head to Fish River Canyon and our camp at Hobas. We then enjoy a walk along the rim of world's second largest canyon.

Day 4: Fish River Canyon

We drive from Fish River Canyon to Sesriem and to the towering sand dunes seen throughout Namib-Naukluft National Park. We spend two nights here and experience the many facets of this dramatic area.

Day 5-6: Sesriem/Bush Camp

Another scenic drive takes us through the Namib Desert and Kuiseb Canyon to the Atlantic Coast and the holiday town of Swakopmund. Two nights are spent here in the town and trying out some of the many optional adrenaline-pumping activities on offer.

Day 7-9: Swakopmund

We drive north into the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross, where 200,000 Cape fur seals live. Turning inland, our destination is the community-run campsite set around the base of the 1784-metre-high volcanic Spitzkoppe.

Day 10: Spitzkoppe

Driving north to astonishing Damaraland, we take in this incredibly picturesque region. We then proceed to Kamanjab and Otjitotongwe Lodge for close-up encounters with the rare and beautiful cheetah.

Day 11-12: Etosha National Park

We stop to visit the Himba people and experience some of their very unique way of life. At Namibia's premier reserve, Etosha National Park, the wildlife-viewing opportunities are unbelievable and virtually unmatched elsewhere on the continent!

Day 13: Grootfontein/San Bushmen

Northeast from Etosha is the Caprivi Strip. Here we near the towns of Bagani and Divundu and by the banks of the Okavango River, which separates Namibia from Angola.

Day 14-15: Rundu/Bagani Community Camp

We then cross into Botswana and spend a few nights in the Okavango Delta. Riding a speedboat along the river, we look for hippos and crocodiles and travel by mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) to a remote island, where we bush camp. We also spend a night on a houseboat before completing our Okavango Delta excursion and setting up camp at Sepupa.

Day 16-17: Okavango Delta

We cross the border again and travel along Namibia's fertile Caprivi Strip before re-entering Botswana. We then travel to the renowned Chobe National Park, which we explore by river cruise and 4WD.

Day 18: Bangani Community Camp

We cross the Chobe River on a small ferry and reach Zambia. Our final short drive takes us along the Upper Zambezi River towards the magnificent Victoria Falls. Our campsite is located on the banks of the Upper Zambezi River.

Day 19-20: Chobe National Park

Day 21-22: Victoria Falls

Tour Grade: Wildlife

Take your pick: hunt for tigers in northern India, listen to monkey chatter and birdsong in the jungles of Costa Rica and Peru or gawp at the Galapagos’ diversity. And of course, there's the big one: Africa. The names alone evoke images of wildlife: the Serengeti, Masai Mara, Kruger. And the reality’s even better. Africa’s got the lot, so go beyond the Big Five by hiking to close encounters with gorillas in Uganda’s forests, walking with lions at Zimbabwe’s Antelope Park, or canoeing past crocs on the Okavango Delta. From the Cape’s loveable penguins to Egypt’s loping camels, Africa’s animals await.
